| Aerosmith Aerosmith formed in 1970 and in 1973 released their first album. Throughout the seventies they enjoyed major success, but drug abuse affected their ability to perform. The original group disbanded, but reformed in 1984 and have remained together ever since. They are the biggest American hard rock band of all time and hold the record for the most gold, platinum, and multi-platinum albums by an American group.

| Bon Jovi Bon Jovi fronted by lead singer Jon Bon Jovi achieved massive chart success in the 1980s and 1990s and had 17 UK top ten hits, including `Always, `Its My Life and `Keep The Faith. They have sold more than 37 million albums in the United States and over 120 million albums worldwide.

| The Doors The Doors formed in 1965 and famously fronted by Jim Morrison. They were one of the most controversial groups of the time, mainly due to Morrisons unpredictable stage persona. Since the bands dissolution in 1970 and Morrisons death in 1971 interest in their music has remained high; helped in part by the use of their music in great film scores, such as Apocalypse Now.

| Guns n Roses Guns `n Roses have sold more than 90 million records worldwide and are one the best known American hard rock bands. The bands `bad boy image, fronted by Axl Rose helped establish them as a leading rock band on the late 1980s and early 1990s. Albums hits such as Use Your Illusion II reached No.1 in the UK album charts.

| INXS INXS were a major force in Australian pop music leading the way in worldwide popularity for a number of Aussie bands. Fronted by the charismatic Michael Hutchence they had many hits in the 1980s and 1990s, including `Need You Tonight considered by many their signature tune. Hutchence died in bizarre circumstances in 1997 and since then the band have performed with a number of different front men.

| Kiss Kiss rose to prominence in the 1970s due to their spectacular live stage shows featuring fireworks, smoking guitars and circus performers. In the 1980s Kiss abandoned the face paint and had commercial success as a mainstream rock band. However in the 1990s Kiss nostalgia led them to re-instate the face paint and costumes. The Kiss Alive World Tour was the most successful live tour in 1996.

| REM REM are considered pioneers of US indie rock. They formed in 1980 and gained recognition through some early releases played on college radio and almost constant touring. Their breakthrough in the UK came in 1991 with `Shiny Happy People one of the most iconic hits of the 90s.
