A magnificent photo of 'The Godfather of Soul' James Brown. Brown started his career in 1953 and rose to fame in the 1960s on the strength of his superb live performances. He was active in civil and social politics in the USA and did much to support African-American rights. For many soul and hip-hop artists, his music was the source of much influence.
